Thermalite Ceramic Fiber, Insulating Wet Blanket adapts refractory capabilities to varied surface configurations

Do-It-Yourself Insulation

Difficult surfaces are easily insulated with Thermalite Wet Blanket because it can be molded to fit almost any surface configuration. It is a moist, vacuum-formed, uniformly thick sheet of high-purity, alumina-silica ceramic fibers, with an inorganic bonding agent. Flexibility makes it highly moldable. Upon air-drying the inorganic binder is activated and the fiber becomes more rigid. Packaged in clear plastic bags, Thermalite Wet Blanket may be quickly unrolled, plaaced around or into the shape to be insulated, and easily trimmed to size.

Exceptional Properties

Once rigid, Thermalite Wer Blanket resists oxidation, reduction, and attack from most corrosives except hydrofluoric and phosphoric acids and heavy alkali concentration. It permits rapid heat-ups and cool-downs never before possible, because it will not spall or crack from thermal shock. Low thermal conductivity and heat storage characteristics achieve better insulating value than insulating firebrick, making thinner wall construction possible. Being non-wetting, it can be used in direct contact with nonferrous molten metals. Surface coating treatments are available for additional molten metal erosion resistance.
